2022’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge reminded fans the world over just how enjoyable the beat ’em up style of video game can be. Now, developer Digital Eclipse is looking to keep the torch alight with its own retro-style brawler. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind was announced during this year’s Summer Game Fest presentation and looks to meld conveyer belt combat with a gorgeous pixel art style and the full roster of the original Power Rangers.

With the exception of Tommy, the Green Ranger (let’s face it, we know he’ll probably show up eventually), the roster here is comprised of the original squad of Jason, Billy, Trini, Zack, and Kimberly (or Red, Blue, Yellow, Black, and Pink, respectively). Here’s what Digital Eclipse says to expect from the game:

For the last 30 years, video games have been an essential part of the Power Rangers franchise. Today, acclaimed studio Digital Eclipse, in collaboration with Hasbro, a leading toy and game company, has revealed that they will release a new game that celebrates this rich and colorful history with retro-inspired action. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind is a fresh adventure with an original storyline that both respects and remixes Power Rangers lore with scenarios and gameplay that will be both familiar and new to MMPR fans. Players will brawl, blast, fight, and drive through a constantly shifting mix of classic game genres and fan-favorite moments from the series.

The game will feature co-op both online and off, with up to five players able to join in simultaneously. Players will also be able to pilot the series’ signature Zoids (giant mechs), as well. Alas, there is no release date and we also don’t technically know what platforms Rita’s Rewind will be launching on. As more details emerge, we’ll let you all know.
