The latest sales figures released by Famitsu in Japan reveals that Switch is close to passing the lifetime sales of PS4 in that region.

There were 42,108 Switch consoles sold during the week of 22-28 April, which brings its lifetime sales in Japan to 8,042,166. Meanwhile, the PS4 and PS4 Pro have together sold an estimated 8,047,754 — a difference of just 5,500. The figures also show that in that week, both the 3DS and Playstation Vita outsold the Xbox One, which has notably been selling poorly in Japan (there were just 52 Xbox One S consoles sold that week!).

You can see the full figures below, with the previous week included in brackets:

1) Switch – 42,108 (40,388)
2) PlayStation 4 – 8,786 (6,702)
3) PlayStation 4 Pro – 5,381 (4,661)
4) New 2DS LL – 3,927 (2,600)
5) New 3DS – 653 (632)
6) PlayStation Vita – 536 (571)
7) Xbox One X – 103 (44)
8) Xbox One S – 52 (39)

This is generally reflected in the software sales for the week and the top 10 features a smattering of Switch and PS4 games — PS4 exclusive Days Gone took the top spot.

For comparison, global Switch sales now stand at more than 32 million but this is still a way behind the PS4, which has sold more than 91 million.
