Switch has been a runaway success for Nintendo since launch, but one can’t help but wonder from time to time what the exact numbers relating to that success actually look like. Thankfully, Nintendo’s regular financial reports tend to pull the curtain back on exactly those juicy details. Indeed, in the company’s latest Consolidated Financial Statements report, it was revealed what the top ten best-selling games on Switch are as of March 31, 2019. Keep in mind that these figures are combined from a mix of physical, digital, and bundled worldwide sales:
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – 16.69 million units
- Super Mario Odyssey – 14.44 million units
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – 13.81 million units
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – 12.77 million units
- Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu!/Let’s Go, Eevee! – 10.63 million units
- Splatoon 2 – 8.70 million units
- Super Mario Party – 6.40 million units
- New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe – 3.31 million units
- 1-2-Switch – 2.97 million units
- Mario Tennis Aces – 2.64 million units
What’s especially noteworthy about these figures is the impressive placement of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Pokémon: Let’s Go at positions number three and five, respectively. Considering the pair of games only just launched this past November and December, they’ve reached some truly high sales numbers in a relatively short span of time. While this list is focused solely on games published by Nintendo, it’s nonetheless a testament to the good fortune that the company is currently enjoying as a direct result of the quality of what’s being sold. With titles like Pokémon Sword and Shield, Metroid Prime 4, and more waiting in the pipeline, it’s entirely possible that many other games will eventually be poking their way into the top ten.
