Super Mario Maker is edging ever closer to its September 11 release date and Nintendo has announced a number of special editions, both for its console packs and the game itself. Not only this, but the company has also given details regarding the release date of the eagerly awaited 8-bit Mario Amiibo to further whet your appetite.

The 8-bit Amiibo figure, which will form part of the 30th Anniversary Collection, will come in two variants: the “Classic Colors” edition, featuring Mario in his original NES brown and red outfit, and the “Modern Colors” edition, with Mario donning his up-to-date blue and red outfit.

Classic Colors Mario will be available as a standalone purchase to coincide with the release of the game on September 11 in Europe and September 12 in Australia; however, the Modern Colors version will not be available until October 23 in Europe and October 24 in Australia. US dates are unconfirmed, but the likelihood is that the US release will match that of Europe.

If your pockets are a little deeper, you could opt for the new Super Mario Maker Wii U bundle, which includes the black premium Wii U, a physical copy of the game, a hardcover art book, and the Classic Colors Amiibo. Prices have yet to be confirmed but hopefully this will not change drastically, if at all, in order to promote Wii U sales

Finally, we have the limited edition release of the game. This pack will come with a physical copy of Super Mario Maker, the art book, and the Classic Colors Amiibo. There will be a standard version of the game which will come with the art book as an added extra. Both the limited edition console and gaming packs will also be released on September 11 and 12 for Europe and Australia, respectively (and hopefully the US). Just enough time to get saving!
