In the last couple of days leading up to the launch of Super Mario Maker for Wii U, we’ll take any small detail we can get. That’s why you should check out this video below of the playable Inkling in 8-bit form.
Using your Splatoon amiibo or unlocking the character will allow you to run through your Super Mario Bros. levels as a kid squid straight from Inkopolis. As you might have noticed, the 8-bit inkling goes into squid form when dashing or swimming, which is a great touch. Now we only have to wait two days until Super Mario Maker launches so we can try out all the mystery mushroom characters for ourselves!
In other Splatoon news, did you hear that an official soundtrack (“Splatune”) is launching in Japan October 21? A huge art book is also coming, featuring 320 pages of concept art and illustrations. “Splatoon’s Fresh Art Book” launches October 10!

Every single SMB1 level I make will require you to be a kidsquid. EVERY SINGLE ONE.
Also, that soundtrack better release over here. Or else.
This is really neat. I’m loving all the little details that are being incorporated into the game.
I don’t plan to try making my own levels, but it will be cool to see what others come up with.
