This console generation, Nintendo hasn’t been afraid to make surprise game announcements, with a quick release coming shortly after. In an interview with Eurogamer, famed developer Shigeru Miyamoto surprised many fans of the Pikmin franchise by announcing that a new game in the series is not only coming, but it’s pretty far along, as well!
“It’s actually very close to completion. Pikmin teams are always working on the next one.”
Given that statement, it would seem very likely that Pikmin 4 will arrive on Wii U, rather than NX. If Nintendo’s next console ends up hitting shelves in 2017, Wii U owners will likely have a very strong lineup to look forward between now and then.

I love Pikmin, so I’m really excited about this news! It’s kind of funny how… offhand these announcements are, though. I still remember when Pikmin 3 was casually announced in an interview with Miyamoto during E3 2008.
YES! I managed to get a actual copy of Pikmin 3 new, and for sure won’t wait to get this one when it releases. Nintendo doesn’t keep these in production for very long.
I really love the Pikmin games! I almost hope this is coming to 3DS, just because I’ve been waiting forever to get a portable version of this series.
