Well, the cat’s out of the bag when it comes to Bakeru. Apparently, there was some internal miscommunication and the game got revealed a tad early. Not that fans didn’t know it existed, as game is already available in Japan as Otogi Katsugeki Mameda no Bakeru ~Oracle Matsuri Tarou no Matsuri Nan!!~. Inspired by Konami’s Goemon series, many a fan was hoping that the game would make its way to the West at some point. As it so happens, it will, under the new moniker of Bakeru. Take a look:

Here’s a bit more about the game from its official synopsis:

Disaster strikes Japan!
Oracle Saitaro and his Festival Troops are using a bizarre festival to take over Japan. Bakeru travels to 47 Japanese prefectures to free Japan from the grip of evil spirits!

Spectacular action set in fairy tale Japan!
Bakeru takes place in “Fairy Tale Japan,” a mix of modern Japan and old period dramas, which is divided into more than 50 stages.

Our nominal hero Bakeru can transform into a variety of different fairy tale heroes, as well as use his drum to attack enemies. For this Western release, Bakeru is also getting two new attacks: Hurricane and Spinning Top. There will also be a new enemy called Lantern Boss. The fun comes to Nintendo Switch starting September 3, 2o24. There’s a demo available now if you’re interested in giving Bakeru a whirl right now.
