Sonic X Shadows Generations has been a big hit for SEGA since it launched this past October. The game is a remaster and expansion of the original Sonic Generations, now boasting improved visuals and an entire campaign dedicated to the Ultimate Life Form himself, Shadow. The game has been so warmly embraced by Sonic fans that it has hit 2 million units sold, an impressive number, to be sure.
The figure was revealed by SEGA in a press release which outlined how the company is striving to grow its IP by ‘[focusing] on transmedia development as an important strategy, which involves the global expansion across various media verticals and merchandising.” Which lines up with things like the recent Sonic movies as well as comics, toys, and so on. With a fourth Sonic film in development and upcoming projects like Sonic Racing CrossWorlds, the Blue Blur won’t be slowing down anytime soon.
