Are you ready for the Ultimate Life Form to pair up with the Blue Blur once more? SEGA announced yesterday during Sony’s PlayStation State of Play broadcast that Sonic Generations will be getting a glowup for the current generation of consoles. Originally released on Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 back in 2011. The game was a celebration of Sonic’s history, offering 3D gameplay as “Modern” Sonic and 2D segments as “Classic” Sonic.
Now, the game is making a comeback as Sonic X Shadow Generations, offering improved visuals along with all-new story content revolving around Shadow. Take a look:
Here’s a bit more about the game from SEGA:
“Sonic X Shadow Generations features a brand-new Shadow story campaign where his old nemesis, Black Doom, returns and threatens to take over the world. Players also can look forward to a full remaster of Sonic Generations, which combines nostalgia from the iconic 2D era of Sonic with the excitement of modern 3D Sonic gameplay, plus new challenges and more bonus content.”
Sonic X Shadow Generations will be launching both physically and digitally this fall. In a surely (surely) happy concidence, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will also be zooming into theaters this coming December—talk about some excellent synergy.
