Of all the things that Nintendo could bring back from its past, few would have ever predicted that not only would the library of Virtual Boy games be getting a rerelease, but the headset itself is coming back, too. Starting February 17, 2026, Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers will be able to relive the glory days of 1995. Take a look at how Nintendo will be incorporating the platform onto Switch and Switch 2:

Here are the games you’ll be able to play:

  • Mario’s Tennis
  • Galactic Pinball
  • Teleroboxer
  • Wario Land
  • Red Alarm
  • Jack Bros.
  • Vertical Force
  • Mario Clash
  • Golf
  • Virtual Bowling
  • Insmouse No Yakata
  • Space Invaders: Virtual Collection
  • V-Tetris
  • 3D Tetris

Alas, while it will be nice to, for many people out there, to play these games for the first time, Nintendo is requiring an additional purchase in order to enjoy the Virtual Boy lineup. There will be a full replica of the original headset as well as a cardboard version of the device. You can see both, below:

It’s not the worst proposition, at least, as the replica model will cost $99.99 and the cardboard version a much more economical $24.99. You can get more details about both units right here. While the library is by no means huge, it is nonetheless rather cool to see such an act of preservation coming from Nintendo. Virtual Boy was one of the few commercial flops to come from the House of Mario, so to see the company go back and embrace it like this really feels like something special. Players will be able to enjoy Virtual Boy on both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, so whichever console you have, you’ll be able to join in.
