Donkey Kong Country Returns HD hit Nintendo Switch back in January of this year and was, by all accounts, a rollicking good time. Such a good time, it seems, that the game has managed to push over a million units in just a few scant months. Nintendo revealed the news as part of its fiscal year 2025 report.
The official number is 1.27 million units sold. That’s not within sniffing distance of titles like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe which sits at 68.2 million units sold, for instance, but it’s nonetheless an impressive achievement for only a few months on sale. Donkey Kong Bananza is the next installment in the series and will hit this summer on July 17, 2025. We went hands-on with the game recently if you’re interested in hearing what the game is shaping up to be like.
