A press release from Sega has unveiled new information about the upcoming Sonic platformer Sonic Lost World. The game, which seems to have taken some inspiration from the mythical Sonic X-treme originally developed for the Saturn, will feature multiplayer modes on both Wii U and 3DS when it launches later this year.
As well as off-TV play on Wii U and full use of 3D on 3DS, Sega has also given us a glimpse at the game’s eventual story:
Dr. Eggman has harnessed the power of six menacing creatures known as the Deadly Six, but when the Deadly Six rise up against their master, Sonic has to unite with his arch nemesis in order to take on the new enemies head-to-head. Using his dynamic new parkour moves and improved Colour Powers, Sonic must run, jump and race through a variety of ever changing terrains in order to defeat the Deadly Six.
After a string of bad news involving the lack of EA support for Wii U and flagging sales figures, it should be reassuring for Nintendo that their once-rival has their back with an exclusive game right when they need it most. More information is set to be revealed in the coming months.

I haven’t bought a Sonic game in years. If this is like Mario Galaxy with a Sonic twist then I’ll have to get it for both systems.
