It’s been a wild ride for Netflix since the company’s inception, catapulting from a simple way of watching TV shows and movies into its own full-fledged entertainment juggernaut. With hits like Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, Stranger Things, and countless other shows and movies, Netflix continues to evolve and grow every month, it seems. This momentum shows no signs of slowing down as the rumor mill has churned up a curious tidbit— Netflix is allegedly working on bringing Resident Evil to the small screen.
According to Nellie Andreeva of Deadline, Netflix is partnering with Resident Evil movie franchise helmers Constantin Film for the project. This new series would use the games as a springboard from which to launch into fresh, uncharted waters that will help expand and enrich the franchise’s existing lore. Andreeva reports that Netflix’s Resident Evil “will explore the dark inner workings of the Umbrella Corporation and the new world order caused by the outbreak of the T-virus.”
There’s no word on when Resident Evil might finally make its debut, but it’s nonetheless interesting to think that the franchise might be going in a different direction after six films on the silver screen.
