A recent tweet made by Nicalis’ Tyrone Rodriguez may be hinting at a new project by Koji Igarashi, the creator of Castlevania.
The tweet included a link to swordorwhip.com, which features the following image:
Provided that this site is legitimate, the Igarashi-like sprite and #igavania hashtag seem to point toward something similar to a new Castlevania title. Here’s where it gets interesting though…
The tweet is given some credit by a flyer that was handed out at the Penny Arcade Expo last year. The flyer was given out to attendees at the Mighty No. 9 panel (which can be seen here) and which seemed to suggest that a new game was being developed by Igarashi. At the time, the Castlevania creator had recently left Konami to work on other projects, and it was believed that this was among them.
While it is too early to tell yet, the tweet is certainly hinting at something, so we can only hope that a proper reveal is not that far away.
In the meantime, what do you make about this rumor? Would you be excited for a new Castlevania-style game?

This is one of the more blatant and exciting teasers I’ve seen. The only thing I don’t like is that one of the things Count Iga says is that 2 dimensions cannot contain him. Perhaps he has studied the Metroid Prime series to see how to make a 3D Metroidvania; that would actually be really cool.
Welcome to the Dojo!
That would be exciting for sure! Hopefully he’s learned some lessons from the Nintendo 64 Castlevania titles if that’s the case!
2 dimensions cannot contain him? Then by all means, release it on the 3DS…
