Disney Infinity 3.0, the latest entry Disney’s toy-based series, has been announced in the latest issue of Game Informer.
While Avalanche Software, the developer from the previous games in the series, is helming development again, the studio will be supported by additional developers this time around.
Most prominent is the inclusion of Star Wars this time around, so you can look forward to a host of new adventures with classic Star Wars characters, such as Obi-Wan, Darth Maul, Han Solo, and Darth Vadar– the figures of which will all be separately. Land and space battles will be included, as will melee combat, and the different characters will all be able to cross over between the Star Wars playsets. This presumably extends to characters from the Star Wars: The Force Awakens playset, which will be released this winter.
Alongside this, there will be a number of other sets based on Disney characters, including a new Marvel set (featuring Hulkbuster Iron Man and Ultron) and another based on the upcoming Pixar film Inside Out. It was also announced that new Power Discs will be released as well.
Beyond this, Avalanche Software has looked to develop the core parts of the game with this installment. Combat has been adjusted (by Ninja Theory) for timing and features added depth for advanced players, while the driving aspects of the game are being tweaked by Sumo Digital (the developers behind Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing).
Disney Infinity 3.0 is currently set to launch this fall on Wii U and other platforms, and the Starter Pack is priced at $64.99.
