While Wii U’s Virtual Console service may have its share of flaws, it has amassed a respectable library of titles across nearly the full spectrum of Nintendo consoles, from NES and SNES to Game Boy Advance and even a handful of Wii classics. One of the most conspicuous absences on the service, however, has been GameCube software, but rumor has it this may be remedied on the upcoming Switch.

According to Eurogamer, three separate inside sources have confirmed that Nintendo will be bringing GameCube Virtual Console titles to Switch, and that the service has already been tested and is running. Thus far, three games have been rumored to appear on the upcoming console: Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi’s Mansion, and Super Smash Bros. Melee. According to the reports, the original Animal Crossing is also in the process of being tested and will likely join the service after the initial three titles.

Of course, until official confirmation comes from Nintendo, these reports should be treated as merely a rumor, though the credibility of their source lends them some credence. GameCube still stands as one of Nintendo’s more underappreciated consoles, with one of the strongest and most varied libraries in the company’s history, and the prospect of being able to play these classics again– especially on the go– is certainly enticing! What are some GameCube titles you’d love to see on Switch’s Virtual Console? Let us know in the comments!
