Over the weekend, rumors began to swirl regarding a potential remake of Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga. The information, along with a possible (blurry) home screen icon, was discovered on the eShop server by a data miner. There has been no confirmation as of this writing, but rumors suggest the game will go by the title Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser’s Minions.
Superstar Saga was the first title in the current Mario and Luigi RPG series. While the 2003 release was predated by both Super Mario RPG and Paper Mario, this title was directly followed up by several games, including Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time and Bowser’s Inside Story. It’s also notable for introducing fan-favorite character Fawful, as well as boasting the return of the Koopalings and a brief cameo by the Square-Enix owned character Geno.

I just finished a playthrough last year, and it holds up very well. I wouldn’t mind a port on the Switch (or the excellent Paper Mario Thousand Year Door), but I would rather experience a remake of the first Paper Mario or update/port of Mother 3.
