More Rumors Divulge Potential Wii Successor Specs
Several weeks after the initial rumblings began, the Wii 2/Project Cafe rumor mill is still going strong. The latest batch primarily concern more technical specifications as well as supposed “confirmation” of the new controllers features.
First and foremost is the rumor that the system will only feature 8GB of on board flash memory, completely forgoing the large hard drives found in most 360 and PS3 models. However, the system will support SD cards to allow for at least some expansion.
What comes as little surprise is the rumor concerning the system’s video output, which should support up to 1080i or 1080p, which is of course in keeping with the output from PS3 and 360.
The system’s physical media was also brought up, and it will allegedly come in 25GB discs. This is significantly larger than what is offered with current Wii and 360 DVDs and more in line with PS3’s Blu-Rays, which previous rumors claimed the system will support.
Finally, the latest rumors reiterate the new controllers functional similarity to 360 and PS3 controllers only with the addition of a six inch touch screen that will support touch, can be utilized as an extension of the TV, and will allow for the streaming of full games within a certain distance of the console.
