A few things have happened in gaming over the years that really twist my melon. Sonic appearing on a Nintendo platform, that still feels weird to a dusty coffin dodger like me. Star Wars Lego, that’s another. So today’s news that a special Nintendo universe version of a mobile game we in the west have barely heard of serves only to bewilder me further.
Puzzle & Dragons is such a phenomenon in Japan and other parts of Asia that the existing version for 3DS, Puzzle & Dragons Z, has sold over 1.5 million copies. Off the back of that success an all-new game is coming and it looks like a bright, polished puzzler. There are plans to bring it to the west and they’d do well to do so. These games are so popular that the announcement alone has boosted the share price of both Nintendo and Puzzle & Dragons parent company GungHo.
On Nintendo’s part, that might have more to do with financial analysts who are still obsessed with the idea of Nintendo porting its games to mobile platforms to make a fast buck than anything else, but all the same, that doesn’t happen every day.

I’m ridiculously excited about this, but I have to wonder what happened to the promised localization of Puzzle & Dragons Z.
First I heard of this type of game, might be a little too hard for me to play it though
