Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack will be getting GameCube games on Nintendo Switch 2 when the console launched on June 5, 2025. Exclusive to Switch 2, Nintendo will of course be offering, alongside its wireless NES, SNES, and N64 controllers, an untethered GameCube pad to coincide with this expansion of NSO. If you’re interested in getting one for yourself, pre-orders of the controller will open up next week on May 8—with a catch.
Pre-orders will be limited to those who receive an invite to pre-order Nintendo Switch 2 via the lottery that was conducted through My Nintendo. The winners of said library will be announced on 05.08, so those lucky few will have first dibs on securing a GameCube controller from then until 05.12. Those with active Nintendo Switch Online subscriptions will then be eligible to pre-order beginning May 13. It’s all a bit nerve wracking, but hang in there—eventually all of this stuff will be relatively easier to buy (although this writer still has yet to get a wireless N64 controller…).
