After much speculation and leaks, a Shovel Knight Amiibo was announced back in September. Now, the release date of the Amiibo may have been unintentionally released once again.
Yacht Club Games’ Shovel Knight Amiibo is to be the first third party NFC figure and is due to be released in Europe on November 27. The developer officially set a release date for North America, but Best Buy may have outed it anyway by including a release date in its listing for the figure.
According to its website, the Amiibo will release on December 18 and will be available at $12.99. It is not currently possible to place pre-orders, however, and the developer has yet to confirm whether this date is official or not.
By using the Amiibo figure with the game, players will be able to unlock in-game challenge levels in both the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U versions of the game, as well as further cosmetic options. There is also a new co-operative multiplayer mode that will be unlocked exclusively on the Wii U version.
We rated Shovel Knight as oustanding in our review of the game back in 2014, and the game was further expanded recently with the new Plague of Shadows DLC.
