Brand crossovers have been a staple of marketing strategies for decades now, but every once in a while, one comes along that seems so obvious, it’s amazing it hasn’t been done yet. Early next year, Build-A-Bear Workshop will be partnering with The Pokémon Company to allow bear-building enthusiasts to make their own Pikachu.
This limited-time promotion will be coming to stores throughout Europe, North America, and Australia. The stuffed Pikachu will feature sound chips to let the Electric-type talk, while options for dressing it up will include a Poké Ball-themed hoodie, though those who make their purchase online will have the option of a Charizard costume. Buyers will also be treated to a special edition card for the Pokémon Trading Card Game.
Images of the Build-A-Bear Pikachu have yet to be released, so hopefully it will fully capture the immeasurable cuteness that has made the electric rat an icon for the better part if two decades.
