With Star Fox Zero’s delay into the first quarter of 2016, Nintendo’s biggest November release is now Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash, and to get the hype train rolling, the company has released a new trailer that reveals a few more details on the upcoming sports title.
The most notable revelation– particularly for Wii U owners hoping for another great online title– is that, yes, the game does support both local and online multiplayer, allowing up to four players to play together simultaneously. The trailer also gives fans a glimpse at the game’s roster, which should be familiar to anyone who’s played a previous Mario Tennis title. The roster includes series stalwarts Mario, Luigi, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Princess Peach, Toad, Yoshi, Boo, Wario, Waluigi, Daisy, and Rosalina. Interestingly, the trailer also includes four mystery slots, though whether or not there will be even more secret (or even DLC) characters than that remains to be seen. Finally, the trailer confirms that Ultra Smash will feature Amiibo support, similar to the latest Super Smash Bros. titles. Players can tap a compatible Amiibo on the GamePad to be joined on the court by that character. As in Smash Bros., Amiibo characters can be leveled up through repeated play, and you can even compete alongside them in both online and offline doubles matches.

Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash will be hitting store shelves and the Nintendo eShop on November 20 for the slightly discounted price of $49.99. Are you planning on getting the sports title when it launches? Let us know in the comments!
