Wii U owners that took part in the “Friends of Nintendo” Humble Bundle deal were recently treated to Darksiders II, a system launch title that came in a bit under the radar, despite strong reviews. The game’s predecessor released in 2010 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, but has yet to appear on a Nintendo system.
According to developer Nordic Games, that will change this winter when the title releases both physically and digitally on Wii U! The Wii U version of the game will have online features, including Miiverse compatibility. Nordic Games also plans to support the title’s relaunch with some new merchandise, as well.
In Darksiders, players take on the role of War, one of the biblical four horsemen of the apocalypse. Like the sequel, the title takes gameplay inspiration from The Legend of Zelda franchise, and released to solid reviews. The title’s story and character designs come courtesy of comic book artist Joe Madureira, perhaps best known for his work on Marvel characters such as Spider-Man and the X-Men.
Darksiders is expected to retail at a budget price of $19.99. Stay tuned to Nintendojo for more details as the game’s release date approaches!
