In May of this year, we reported on a lawsuit that Nintendo had filed against accessory manufacturer Genki. The litigation arose over Genki showing off a supposed prototype of its upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 accessories. The problem? Genki was alleging to have gotten its hands on a Nintendo Switch 2 as early as January of 2025, which Nintendo asserted was done via “unauthorized access.” What’s more, the 3D mockups of Nintendo Switch 2 that Genki was using to show off its new accessories were ostensibly the public’s first look at the console, which was well ahead of any official unveiling the company had planned.

Thus, Nintendo took Genki to court, but in the time since there hasn’t been much said about the litigation—until now. Court documents reveal that Nintendo and Genki have settled the matter between themselves, with the later agreeing to pay an undisclosed amount of money. Genki is also agreeing to stop marketing its Nintendo Switch 2 related offerings using Nintendo’s color branding, as well as naming conventions like Glitch 2, Genki Direct (for video presentations), and so on. This is just the latest in numerous ongoing legal actions that Nintendo has taken over the years to protect its IP.
