The next installment in the Fatal Frame series is coming to Wii U, according to Famitsu. Via a translation by Gematsu, Famitsu reports that Nintendo and Tecmo Koei are collaborating to bring the game to the console, but details about the title and release date have not yet been revealed. In conjunction with the game’s release, Tecmo Koei has planned a series of “new multimedia” ventures based on the Fatal Frame series: a live action film directed by Mari Asato, who also directed Bilocation; a novel authored by Eiji Otsuka, creator of the horror manga series The Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service; and a comic by Shin Kibayashi (also known by his pen name, Tadashi Agi), author of Kindaichi Case Files, are all in the works.
What are your thoughts on the impending Fatal Frame release for Wii U? Are you looking forward to any of the multimedia projects planned, as well? Considering the franchise’s focus on utilizing a camera against restless spirits, the Wii U GamePad seems like a suitable match for the next installment in the series.
