Renegade Kid is developing a first-person shooter for the 3DS eShop, co-founder Jools Watsham said on Twitter.
Originally revealed in the inaugural issue of fan magazine Nintendo Force, Watsham figures that it will be the first FPS on the 3DS– that is, if High Voltage’s The Conduit doesn’t beat it to the punch.
The developer was known initially for Dementium, Moon, and Dementium II, excellent FPSes for the DS powered by their proprietary engine capable of running at a cool 60 frames per second (and yet boasting some of the best graphics the DS has to offer). Renegade Kid has experienced a recent surge in popularity with their phenomenal platformer, Mutant Mudds.
Watsham notes that the upcoming FPS will control similarly to their DS FPSes, with the stylus controlling movement and the Circle Pad (or the face buttons for lefties) for controlling movement. Hopefully lefties won’t encounter problems in the lack of analog movement, but for those truly concerned, Watsham also said that they will provide support for the Circle Pad Pro as well.
Please! Dementium 3, dementium 3, dementium 3…
Woah! I’m not a huge FPS fan, but Conduit and anything-at-all-from-Renegade Kid… Nothin’ but the best at this place! :^)
Gets a person thinking about what it might be like to play a Metroid Prime or Portal on the 3DS… Or, when pigs fly, an un-re-make of Goldeneye (one that hasn’t become a generic Clone of Duty).
Moon 2 please. Moon was one of my favorite DS games.
