Netflix has been on a roll with its video game adaptations, from Castlevania to the upcoming Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness and now, a new series: Assassin’s Creed. A live action adaptation of Ubisoft’s video game franchise will be coming to the streaming giant. Here’s a teaser.

This new series is being developed alongside Jason Altman and Danielle Kreinik, Ubisoft’s SVP Head of Film and Television and Director of Television Development, respectively. The duo will be acting as Executive Producers for the show. This isn’t the first time that Ubisoft and Netflix have partnered, as the latter has already run four seasons of Rabbids Invasion on the service. There is also reportedly a Splinter Cell anime in the works, as well.

Not much is known about what to expect from Assassin’s Creed, but here’s a statement from Peter Friedlander, the vice president of original series at Netflix:

“From its breathtaking historical worlds and massive global appeal as one of the best selling video game franchises of all time, we are committed to carefully crafting epic and thrilling entertainment based on this distinct IP and provide a deeper dive for fans and our members around the world to enjoy.”

This isn’t the first time the video game has been adapted in other media, with the abortive Assassin’s Creed movie from 2016 being the first example to spring to mind. Hopefully, Ubisoft and Netflix can figure out a version of the game that will work better with live action. There’s no word on a release date just yet, but we’ll let you know as soon as there’s an announcement. Are you excited to see Assassin’s Creed come to the small screen?
