Nintendo Switch 2 boasts backwards compatibility as one of its big selling points. However, Nintendo will be sweetening the deal a bit in the form of Expanded Edition versions of certain games. These Nintendo Switch 2 Edition titles offer improved performance and new content—for a fee. That might not be to everyone’s liking, but don’t worry, as Nintendo will also be offering free performance improvement updates to a range of 12 title at launch. The games are:
- ARMS
- Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain
- Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
- Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics
- Game Builder Garage
- The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
- The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening
- New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe
- Pokémon Scarlet
- Pokémon Violet
- Super Mario Odyssey
- Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury
Along with performance tweaks, some of these games will also include the new GameShare feature. Echoes of Wisdom and Link’s Awakening, along with Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, will likely benefit quite a bit from these upgrades.
