Metal Slut Tactics was announced way back in 2021 but has since been delayed multiple times, leaving fans anxious for the game’s eventual release. In July, the first inkling that the long wait was coming to an end came in the form of a video put out by Dotemu offering fans a nice little retrospective on the Metal Slug series. Now, an official release date for Metal Slug Tactics has finally been revealed: November 5, 2024. Here’s the announcement trailer:
If you’re unfamiliar, Metal Slug Tactics is a tactical RPG take on the run-and-gun series. While it maintains the series’ signature detailed pixel art graphics, players will be partaking in turn-based battles across a series of hand-drawn maps with roguelike elements sprinkled in rather than shooting up foes. Dotemu has also revealed that characters from Ikari Warriors will be playable in Metal Slug Tactics, as well.
Finally, for physical collectors, keep in mind that a cartridge of the game will eventually launch, although it’s not clear on when, or who will be handling its production (even money on it being Limited Run Games, but we’ll just have to wait and see).
