Many of us have beaten games pretty quickly, only to find out that there is someone online who has finished in comparatively lightning speed. I’ve personally never tried speedrunning Super Mario World, but I’m pretty sure that I couldn’t finish it in less than 30 minutes, even with the benefit of having both eyes on the screen.
Watching speedrunner PangeaPanga somehow manage to beat the game then in only 23 minutes while blindfolded, seems like some sort of black magic is at work then. By using a combination of good timing and incredibly precise jumping, PangeaPanga was able to complete the game in precisely 23:14. If you want to see this incredible feat yourself, you can view it below:
While the attempt isn’t a perfect run by any means, the fact that it is done while blindfolded is a fantastic achievement. So much so in fact, that I think it should be its own category of speedrunning. If you want to see what the current speedrunning world record for Super Mario World is like though (currently set at less than 2 minutes), you can see it here. It makes use of glitches within the game, but it is still rather impressive!
So how does this compare to your own run-through of this SNES classic? Let us know below if you think that you can beat this attempt, or if you have already been speedrunning blindfold for years!
