As the gaming industry continues its inevitable march toward an entirely digital future, the love for having an actual physical product occasionally shines through. Recently, this has meant indie titles getting physical releases, sometimes even for long defunct platforms. Limited Run Games is one company that has been making this trend possible, and soon they’ll be making another interesting move: re-releasing actual retro games for their original systems.
The publisher has teamed up with Lucasfilm Games to release Star Wars for NES and Game Boy on real NES and Game Boy cartridges. Furthermore, gamers won’t have to wait too long as orders open up later this week on June 28.
The blue cartridges are definitely a nice touch, as is the packaging which really recalls that of old action figures. However, I can’t help but feel many gamers are hoping for the Super Star Wars series for SNES to get the same treatment.
