A bit of a leak on Koei Tecmo’s part last week might have ruined the surprise, but Nintendo has confirmed that a 3DS version of last year’s Hyrule Warriors for Wii U is in fact being made. Thankfully, Hyrule Warriors Legends will be more than just a straight port.
During the official announcement, series producer Eiji Aonuma described Hyrule Warriors Legends as a “reimagining” of the original game so we can’t necessarily be sure of all the changes that are in store for the title, but he did verify a few key details. First, the 3DS title will include all of the DLC characters that have been released for the original since launch. Also, Hyrule Warriors Legends will include two new characters, as well as stages, from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker; pirate captain Tetra will be joining the fight alongside King Daphnes Nohansen Hyrule, who is probably better known as the King of Red Lions.
Hyrule Warriors Legends will be coming out sometime in the first quarter of 2016, so expect more details in the coming months. In the meantime, I recommend checking out the original Wii U game, which we found to be excellent.
