Back in 2012, the extremely popular Dragon Quest series moved into the MMO realm with its tenth entry. Currently, the title is available on Wii, Wii U, and 3DS in Japan, but with the impending launch of Switch, that lineup is going to be shaken up in the near future.
Square Enix has announced that Dragon Quest X will be released on Switch this year, though the launch window is rather broad, pegging the date as either sometime this summer or fall. This new version of the game will also see a significant update that will unfortunately result in the company ending support for the Wii version. Though not too many details have been given yet, the company did express its intent to give players a way to easily move from Wii to Switch.
Unfortunately, just like every other version of the game, all of this news is currently only relevant to Japanese gamers. Square Enix has yet to express any intent to bring Dragon Quest X to other markets.
