While the news should come as little surprise, developer Nicalis officially announced today that Cave Story+ will arrive on Nintendo Switch. The title has been heavily rumored for months, but we now have an official announcement, release date, MSRP and box art!
Taking inspiration from classic 8-bit titles such as Castlevania and The Legend of Zelda, Cave Story has built a strong fanbase since its original release back in 2004. Since then, the title has released to critical acclaim across multiple platforms. The latest iteration, Cave Story+, will feature time trials, updated HD graphics and more.
Nicalis’ physical release for The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ arrived with an instruction manual and some other additions when it released last month. Hopefully Cave Story+ will receive a similar treatment when it arrives on June 20. The title will retail for $29.99.
