Bravely Default II has turned three this year. Marking the game’s transition into its trying threes, series producer Tomoya Asano took to X to share an interesting tidbit about the future of the franchise. Take a look (and enjoy the pretty piece of art drawn up for the anniversary, as well):

A translation of the pertinent part of Asano’s post reads, “I’m sure we’ll be able to tell you about some developments in the Bravely series this year, so please keep an eye out for it.” Alas, while one would think that perhaps the recent Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase might have been the perfect time to make such a reveal, it seems fans will have to wait a bit longer for details about the next Bravely Default game.
To this point there have been three entries: Bravely Default (20212) and Bravely Second: End Layer (2015) on Nintendo 3DS, and Bravely Default II (2021) on Nintendo Switch. With recent rumors about Switch’s successor suggesting a 2025 launch, one wonders if the next Bravely Default could be destined for Nintendo’s next console. Only time will tell, but in the meanwhile you can tell us what you think about the possibility of getting another Bravely game down in the comments!
