Indie developer Thunder Lotus, creator of Spiritfarer, Sundred, and Jotun, have just announced their next hit: 33 Immortals. It brings the stunning 2D visuals the studio is known for with an all new take to the rogue like style. This will be an online, co-op, action-rogue like for 33 players.
“Face the wrath of God in a fight for your eternal life.”
Play as a damned soul and together, fight against God’s final judgement. The setting is reminiscent of Super Giant Game’s Pyre, however, instead of fighting alongside colorful characters to escape purgatory, you will be cooperating with 32 friends or strangers online to survive against hordes of monsters and massive bosses in order to attain eternal life.
If you’re a gamer like myself, you’re tired of long opening sequences, dragged out tutorials, and cutscenes breaking the flow of gameplay. Or maybe you are someone who just doesn’t have a lot of time to game. Then you’ll be glad to know 33 Immortals immediately throws you into the gameplay. Developers are offering a variety of play styles to battle and experiment with. It’s unlikely you’ll get tired of 33 Immortals quickly.
Now for the bad news, so far, there is no mention of a Nintendo Switch release date, but all three of the studio’s past releases eventually came to Switch. We will to hope the pattern continues.
