Wii U may be remembered by history as Nintendo’s poorest performing home console, but it still produced a number of undeniable classics, including Mario Kart 8, arguably the best installment in the long-running racing series. Fortunately for those who may have missed out on it the first time around, the game will be getting a second lease on life when it arrives on Switch in the form of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, an expanded release that contains all of the original’s downloadable content, as well as a host of new features and characters.
While the addition of new racers like the Inklings and King Boo are certainly welcome, the most exciting change in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is the new Battle Mode, which includes classic game modes like Shine Thief and Balloon Battle, as well as Renegade Roundup, a new cops-and-robbers-like game in which players must arrest the other racers using Piranha Plants. Nintendo has released a trailer showcasing these and all of the game’s other new features, which you can watch below.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is set to launch on Switch on April 28. Are the new features enough to convince you to double dip? Let us know in the comments!
