When it comes to gaming or work, ergonomics become very important to how comfortable you feel, especially if you are doing either of these tasks for long periods of time. With the Champion Upgraded Series Ergonomic Computer Gaming Office Chair, E-Win seeks to provide those ergonomics in chair form. In this case, E-Win gamings chairs pack a lot of features that aim to accomplish the company’s goal of ergonomics, such as multiple lumbar support features, multiple areas of adjustment, and special extras included that are tailored to user comfort.

One area that this heavy-duty gaming chair really shows off is in its sturdiness. This is evident in looking at E-Win’s website and upon receiving and building the chair. Before even opening the box, the weight of the chair is extremely noticeable. On the outside of the box, there is a note that the box should be carried by 2 people to be safe. If you only have one person is available, it is definitely best to move the parts separately, as not to hurt yourself. This isn’t a knock to the quality of the chair. Upon opening the box, the material quality of the chair’s pieces feels high quality and not easily damaged. After assembly, which will be covered more later, as that is an aspect that proved a little difficult, the chair shows its strength. As E-Win’s website claim notes, “Designed to Handle 400 lbs of Gaming Excellence”, this chair feels like it can hold up to a lot, not just in weight, but use. It is important to note, however, that, for this review, the chair has only been in use for about a week. The material and the chair seem strong and durable, but time and use can sometimes prove differently.

Let’s go back to assembly for a moment. The chair came in many different parts with tools and and a large instruction poster to help the process along. Having this large poster made the process much easier than other furniture construction experiences with small instruction manuals. It could easily be glanced at during the process to figure out what to do next. However, one of the first big steps in the process is attaching the back rest to the seat and this part became a bit of a hurdle in the assembly process. One side could be lined up easily enough to screw in bolts, as that side has a track to help with the process, but the other side was a pain to get lined up and a pain to get screwed in, once it was finally lined up. Luckily, after that hurdle was crossed, the rest of the process seemed very straightforward. It is possible this was due to a manufacturing error or bend in one of the metal pieces on the unit we received, or it could be that it is just that difficult to get it where it needs to be on all units.

An area where E-Win really excelled with the Champion Upgraded Series is in comfort personalization. There are so many things you can customize on this chair to make it comfortable based on your specific needs. On the side of the chair, there is a reclining lever, so that the backrest can be placed at many different angles. A button, located on the side of the arm rests allows them to be adjusted forward, back, or angled. Both sides of the backrest have knobs that allow for a lumbar support system located inside to be adjusted to your body type. Underneath the seat, there is a lever that allows for chair tilt to be switched on or off and a knob that adjusts tilt sensitivity. On the opposite side of the chair from the tilt lever, there is a lever for adjusting the height of the seat. If all of that wasn’t enough, E-Win included 2 pillows with their chair, a pillow for extra lumbar support and a magnetic pillow that acts as an extra headrest.

Once you have found a comfortable way to set up the chair, it feels great to sit there for quite a long time. The chair’s size, build quality, and materials feel great, high quality, and add to the value of the chair.

Now that all the pros and cons for the chair are laid out, it is worth taking the price into account. The E-Win Champion Upgraded Series is regularly priced on their website for $479, but is currently on sale for $459. The chair reviewed here is the version in black with red accents. Other versions of the chair are priced slightly less, but come close to this price range. At this price, this chair is one of the most expensive chairs listed on the E-Win website, if not the most expensive. Upon doing more research on similar brands on the market, E-Win’s pricing seems comparable to some, while being slightly above others.

Given all of this information, the Upgraded Series is quite a feature packed premium chair focused greatly on ergonomics. It achieves a lot of those ergonomics through a varied system of user personalization and added comfort options. Certain steps during the assembly process were quite difficult and required a good bit of strength to accomplish, but, once those steps were completed, the rest was quite quick and painless. The price is an area that will have to be assessed on an individual consumer basis, as it sits in a premium price range. Materials, build quality, and customization options make this seem much more worth the price, but it could still be steep for some wallets.
