It turns out that talking about video games is a lot like travel writing. Or, at the very least, talking about places you’ve been to. Compare: “Oh, I went to the Bahamas the other day, and the weather was so gorgeous!” versus “I wish you could’ve seen the way the pieces fit together in Pushmo #102! Beautiful!” You see? They’re not so different, video games and real life. If only more people saw that, maybe we could start dressing up as Bowser more often.
Ha ha! We kid. Everybody knows Bowser Jr. is hipper these days.
This issue is going to be a doozy. It’s been two weeks now since the introduction of our new columns– Star Road, Another Castle, Connection Error, Fan Service, and Square Roots– and we are nothing if not continuously excited. It’s like a road trip! (Again with the travel imagery, Andrew.) There you are, in your SUV, driving all alone down the 66. Sure, it’s empty, but that just means more room for picking up vagrant video game memories all along the way, both old and new. And then as you head to a stop light, you’ll look at Waluigi sitting next to you, and wonder when your favorite video games got so distorted. (Whoa, that metaphor went someplace really strange.)
But I digress! (As Blathers would say.)
This week we’ll travel to exotic locales, from Epic Mickey‘s painted valleys to not-so-cheap Flash imitations of Nintendo landscapes. Pierre will continue fighting the good ol’ fight in Square Roots, and Nester64x will return with some Pokétastic messages (hint: he like the number 150, and no other). Episode five of Nintendo Heartcast will be on its way Wednesday. And every day, we’ll have lovely Nightly News Roundups, just as always. Now you’re playing with power.
Enjoy,
Andrew
