Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
I just knew I had to include a track from Paper Mario: TTYD in this countdown, but it wasn’t easy choosing just one. The entire soundtrack from that game deserves its own feature! But this particular song is just pure inspiring. It plays when all hope seems lost, and Mario is about to be defeated by the ancient and malevolent Shadow Queen. Similar to the pivotal ending of EarthBound, all of Mario’s friends and those he has helped in his journey begin to wish for his success. The screen is literally filled up with encouraging words from your allies, and Mario’s strength is restored.
The music is a familiar motif that plays throughout The Thousand Year Door, and it’s in this track that it reaches its climax. The song is just so inspiring! It has the potential to cause, dare I say, emotions. Who would have thought the plumber had it in him?
