Monster Hunter Wilds was announced during the recent Nintendo Direct as coming to Nintendo Switch 2 this winter. On December 4, 2026, fans will finally be able to join in on the latest entry in the series. However, Capcom also revealed that along with all the previous expansions coming to the Switch 2 version of the game, the upcoming Ascendance DLC would also be hitting Nintendo’s console at the same time.
While Capcom had already offered fans a look at Ascendance, during Tokyo Game Show 2026, fans were given an extended trailer to enjoy. Take a look:
Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance takes things to a whole new level with a bunch of additions to the base game. This includes:
- Post-Game Story Expansion: After beating the game, the story skips ahead a few years and centers on returning Elder Dragon Lao-Shan Lung.
- New Locale: Welcome to the Skybound Eyrie, a series of floating islands in the sky littered with ruins for players to explore, as well as unique monsters to hunt.
- Boost Bracer: This piece of equipment works with all 14 weapons to grant new abilities and attacks, as well as new mobility options.
- New & Old Enemies: The Skybound Eyrie is packed with new enemies to take on, like Gundoraja, a huge, storm-powered serpentine Elder Dragon, and returning foes, like Kushala Daora.
Players can look forward to Master Rank, making Ascendance a true must-play experience for fans of the series. There’s still no firm release date, but fans can look forward to playing Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance at some point in 2027. Tell us what you think of the game so far down in the comments and on social media!
