ShareThisIf 3DS has many years ahead of it, then there will be many colors of released to retail. To that end, it’s probably safe to guess a white, blue, pink and red version will come out, but beyond that, who knows what we’ll get. What’s most important right now is which one of the possible colors below are you most interested in? We know that favorite colors are pretty subjective, so we created a wealth of options to choose from. So check out the mockups below, and then vote for your favorite.

Holy Miltank, I totally forgot about Atomic Purple! I was looking around on Wiki and found the old “Play it Loud!” see-through Game Boy, too. Man, those were the days.
I remember poring over one of the old Nintendo Power issues that was dedicated purely to new colors for the N64 and Game Boy Color. I haven’t experienced similar jealousy since.
I knew that Team Purple were going to rear their ugly head in this poll. I didn’t think it’d happen quite that fast but oh well. The whole two-tone thing is ghastly though.
And I hate aqua :P

But Noah, purple AND orange? On the same DS? Wow. That’s … that’s almost Laker colors.
Hahaha… I’m honestly split between purple and orange– I love them both– but I give purple the edge. I don’t think a green will ever get released stateside and the red and blue are nice but pretty perfunctory. Plus I already have a red DS lite (and Zelda gold one as well), so those two were automatically marked out.
I actually thought blue and white would be winning but, so far, that’s not the case! :)
And Adam? Totally agree on the *tri* tone thing (truly! there are *three* shades to every 3DS! http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/03/3ds-side-2011-03-08.jpg ). It’s a little corny. I read the Iwata Asks that explained how the gradation came to be, but I still think the designers were either trying too hard or being too whimsical. Given the intense, bootstrap hardware design iterations they were forced through, though, I’m not surprised they ended up making such weird decisions.
You can always pick up some paint at the hardware store…
I picked up Goldeneye JUST for the exclusive gold controller! What I wouldn’t give to have a 3DS in that same tone! I got…GOLD fe-VA!

This was a VERY tough decision. That white looks soooo cool with the black border around the top screen. I had to go with red though if only because it’s my favorite color.
Man, all of them look so good. It’s that darn gloss they use.
