The success of Switch came as a significant surprise to most publishers and developers. After the 3DS’ rocky start, and the Wii U’s troubles, it’s hard to blame companies for adopting a “wait-and-see” approach to Switch. With the platform proving a hit with consumers, however, publishers and developers are quickly scrambling to make up for lost time.
Zen Studios was a big supporter early in the Wii U’s lifespan with their title Zen Pinball 2. The company rolled out quite a bit of content for the game early on, but the Wii U was eventually forgotten in favor of other platforms. Zen’s first title on Switch, Infinite Minigolf, releases this week. According to a recent AMA on Reddit, the company will apparently show Switch more support in the future, though it’s unclear in what way, at this time. The company did, however, state their hopes to make a pinball title based on a Nintendo property! Zen’s Mel Kirk had this to say:
“We have not yet announced a pinball game for Nintendo Switch, however we are huge Nintendo supporters, so stay tuned for announcements. We would LOVE to do Nintendo specific tables base on their IP’s. These would be awesome tables!”
While Zen Pinball was great on Wii U, the title would be a much stronger fit on Switch, thanks to the system’s portability. Nintendo-themed tables would seem less likely, but with Nintendo working more frequently with outside developers of late, it’s certainly not outside the realm of possibility! Stay tuned to Nintendojo for more information as it develops!
