Wii U sales have been slowly but surely gaining traction in the last few months. Bolstered by bundles and strong software releases, Nintendo’s latest console is showing that it might be down, but it’s certainly not out. Last week’s Media Create numbers certainly back up that fact as Wii U got a hefty boost alongside the release of Wii Party U. Last week, the console moved a mere 2,598 units, compared to 38,802 this week. Overall, Nintendo sold more than 127,000 systems in Japan between October 28 and November 3. The majority of those sales were split between the 3DS and 3DS LL, though the Nintendo Wii still managed to sell 477 units. A pretty impressive feat, all things considered!
The 3DS also managed to take three of the top five positions on the software charts, with the mammoth (or should I say Mamoswine?) Pokémon X and Y selling more than 162,000 copies. Level-5’s Danball Senki Wars and Capcom’s Monster Hunter 4 both appeared in third and fourth place on the list. Wii U’s top seller Wii Party U debuted at number six on the charts with over 37,000 copies sold.
