Nintendo Labo VR Kit isn’t Nintendo’s first foray into virtual reality. While the Virtual Boy was clunky, heavy, and limited in the colors it displayed, it was ahead of its time in anticipating that video games would eventually delve into VR experiences.
So, perhaps it should come as no surprise that Nintendo would take the Nintendo Labo VR Kit as an opportunity to pay homage to the Virtual Boy. In the Video VR section of the game, players can watch a video that shows a person sitting at a table with a Virtual Boy in front of them, who then pulls it towards themselves and starts playing Mario’s Tennis.
Pretty neat little Easter Egg tucked away inside the game! Do you own a Virtual Boy? Have you played Mario’s Tennis? And if you own the Nintendo Labo VR Kit, what are your thoughts on it? We’ll have our impressions of the hardware soon!
