Many trends have come and gone over the last decade or so, as indie developers emerged as a major influence on the gaming industry. Among the first was the popularity of endless runners, no doubt thanks to the relative simplicity of design as well as the fact that they are generally quite mobile device friendly; however, they’ve been somewhat less common as of late. That’s not stopping developer Katata games though!
The independent studio is partnering with publisher Fantastico Studo to release Top Run. The game will mix endless runner, platformer, and shooter elements in a world absolutely saturated in 80s-inspired aesthetics. Beyond the neon lights and synthwave soundtrack, players will also find a leveling system for their character’s abilities as well as collectibles that can be used to decorate their in-game room.
Top Run will be available for download on Switch sometime next month.
