All the way back in August, we learned that The Pokémon Company had filed new trademarks in Japan and North America. The American trademarks were for Pokkén Fighters and Pokkén Tournament, while the Japanese trademark was simply for Pokkén. Nothing more seemed to come of the news until just recently, when the same trademarks filed in North America have now been filed in Europe as well. Unfortunately, no other information, such as what exactly Pokkén is, has been revealed.
I imagine most conjecture will immediately jump to video games, but we need to keep in mind that The Pokémon Company manages the massive, multi-billion dollar Pokémon empire that stretches across games, toys, clothes, media, and every other little thing graced with the Pokémon name. That being said, I can still hope this will somehow tie into a video game announcement, especially seeing how E3 is just around the corner.

This is OBVIOUSLY a crossover between the world of Pokemon and the world of Tekken.
I say that jokingly, but the developers of Tekken are Namco Bandai who have worked closely with Nintendo on a number of products, so now I’m not so sure it’s a joke. Granted, in Japanese the word “tekken” means “iron fist,” which would work as a portmanteau with Pokemon for a fighting game…
