Switch owners have been able to explore the fantastical world of Tamriel for quite a while thanks to the presence of Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on the system, but fans of the franchise have been expecting another adventure to arrive shortly. Unfortunately, it now looks like that wait will have to continue a little longer.
Bethesda released The Elder Scrolls: Blades as a free-to-play mobile game and announced their plans to bring the title to Switch this year. Recently, as is often the case in the age of “games as a service”, the title has seen many updates and changes, which means the developers need a little longer to get the Switch version up to speed. Specifically, we shouldn’t expect to see the game until sometime in early 2020.
Judging by the mobile version, fans should expect a very different experience compared to traditional Elder Scrolls games. Expect more of a focus on combat and dungeon diving instead of the open world exploration the franchise has become famous for.
