Friday’s release of Splatoon on Wii U gave fans plenty to keep them busy, but a handful of new options are being added to the game today. Ranked battles, which promise more competitive action, will be available today in North America! Nintendo promised to unlock the mode after a certain percentage of players reached level 10 or higher. The new mode is available starting on June 1 at 7pm Pacific. The mode will be available in Europe starting tomorrow.
That isn’t the only new addition to the game today, however. During today’s Nintendo Direct Micro, a new weapon and map were also unveiled for the game. The weapon is called the N-Zap ’85, which fans will recognize thanks to its similar appearance to the NES Zapper. While the rapid-fire item is apparently on the weaker side, it can quickly charge the echo-locator special weapon. The new weapon is joined by Port Mackerel, a map that looks like a busy port filled with cargo. We’ve included an image of the map below!
